Southern African-American Field Hollers and Call and Response plus Classical Western musical instruments, especially marching band brass from Confederate ex-soldiers, plus Congo Square's history in New Orleans, led to Jelly Roll Morton, led to the very beginning of Dixieland Jazz, led to Louis Armstrong and his Hot Fives, followed by a migration of Louisiana musicians to Chicago, led to Chicago Dixieland Jazz, led to Satchmo becoming Great, led to Big Bands and Sir Duke and Swing, led to the Cool Movement and heroine, led to Modal Jazz, led to Fusion Jazz. Led to Kenny G hatching out of a Gobbledygooker egg (Chavo Guerrero rules!)
The Blues grew out of field hollers and the call and response tradition coupled with Southern African-American Gospel music. Add Southern White Country from before the fifties and you get Rockabilly. Add African-American "Race" music from the fifties, also known as Rhythm and Blues, which was influenced by country music, add the electrification of the guitar, and that led to some incredible talented Limey musicians invading the U.S. in steady waves in the 1960s, add psychedelics and other drugs and alcohol, and you get God's music. Rock and fucking Roll. Freebird!

Watched Witchfinder General which is a pretty realistic British horror film from the 70's. I'm surprised more movies haven't been made in the same vein as this and the Black Death. At the end when Vincent Price gets messed up with the ax the actor was trying to kill him for real ,but luckily he was tipped off and wore padding that saved his life.

An avenging monk? Possibly a living Bodhisatva warrior? Not up to me to decide.
The 36th Chamber of Shoalin. Purportedly the best Kung Fu movie in film history. I'll get back to you by the end of the month on that.
Looks like a full moon tonight. If it's not, don't burst my lupine bubble. Cheers Wulf! This Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale is for you!

That is a fucked up story. I am so very glad Mr. Price wore padding. If I could, I'd bring THAT man back from the dead. And a reanimated Vincent Price just might be down with that.

Credit the mighty Wikipedia.
Dog Soldiers
The Dog Soldiers or Dog Men (Cheyenne Hotamétaneo'o) was one of six military societies of the Cheyenne Indians. Beginning in the late 1830s, this society evolved into a separate, militaristic band that played a dominant role in Cheyenne resistance to American expansion in Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado and Wyoming. Its members often opposed policies of peace chiefs such as Black Kettle. Today the Dog Soldiers society is making a comeback in such areas as the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation in Montana and among the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes in Oklahoma.[citation needed]
Just opened a fresh Dogfish Head. Cheers!

He sure is. I like that whole squadron of characters and hate everybody else in the movie but the dog. Lesson: Don't trust women. It can get you killed.
I love 28 Weeks Later. I like it more than the original. The infected dad goes way out of his way to try to kill his kids. I liked that glimpse of the psychology behind Rage, in one individual, not attacking the group with his kids but following them and biding his time. Good stuff. And boy, that kiss sure was the biggest mistake of all kisses in the annals of cinema.

Watched Navajo Joe a spaghetti western from the 60s starring Burt Reynolds as a Navajo getting revenge for his family after their murdered by bandits. Ok film ,but the knife action really stands out.
Then I watched Fido a Canadian horror comedy where zombies have been taken over in 1950s America and used as servants. It was pretty good.
Then I watched Black Death for the second time, which is a brutally realistic British horror film in the same vein as Witchfinder General. This is one of my favorite movies because the fight scenes are done quite realistically. Great movie.
After that I watched an early film by the same director Severance which was a British horror comedy. It was ok there were some funny parts ,but it wasn't scary or funny enough to be a really good movie.
I then watched the pair of Mesrine films about the real life French gangster who broke out of prison three times. The first one was called Mesrine: Killer Instinct and the second Mesrine: Public Enemy Number One. These are two of my favorite movies very realistic and well done.

I am in awe of your ability to consume movies!
You beat me to two movies. Fido is one of my favorite zombie movies. I think it is much better than Shaun of the Dead. Also, I'll be watching some Spaghetti Westerns soon.
My creek has water. Must go out to it with my dog pack. Movie watching tonight. Cheers!

I first watched Dead Alive at a local theater when it came out while in college. I love Peter Jackson. I saw all of his first movies, but especially loved Heavenly Creatures, which was an eye-opener for me. That is a must see folks.
Anyways, here's a scene from Dead Alive aka Braindead.
