So Jake knows I suck. Usual excuses plus I literally almost died two weeks ago plus I moved to another city and all my other usual bullshit excuses and another woman in my life half my age. So also computer problems so I can't copy and paste and I am bartending at our bar right now with customers in front of me, but the usual rules of seven years. Jake, if you have my phone number, text me, I have no time to even look at emails at this point. That said, here we go (Please join me Jake, please!). Dog will hunt! And Rest in Power Tobe Hooper! Time to pour a pint at my bar, The Growling in San Marcos, Texas, yo! Watching The Texas Chain Saw Massacre now cause the movie turned 43 years old today! Cheers!

Okay, first five films.
First to celebrate the birthday of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre on October 1st, I watched this film again on the day that has become a tradition for me. Last Friday I met Alan "Jerry" Danziger , the driver of the van from this classic hailing back to my birth year, 1974. He was super cool and..... more on the Horrorfest I went to on another day, plus pics. That was a highlight of my life. I was giddy. And again, Rest in Power Tobe Hooper, I wish I could have met ya. Oh yeah, at this point, this is my favorite Horror movie, raw and in your face, and coming at you with murder in it's eyes.
Second I watched George's Melies' 1896 Horror short film, Le Manoir du Diable aka by about eight other names. I love these early silent classics that show how stage plays began their metamorphosis into what we regard as movies today.
Third I watched, from one of my all time favorite directors, the genius and artist Stanley Kubrick, the 1980 classic, The Shining. What can I say? This film is nearly perfect. A 99 on a scale of 100, and one of my top three favorite Horror flicks ever.
Fourth I watched Frankenstein from 1910 which was directed by J. Searle Dawley who went uncredited because Thomas Edison was a ripoff artist scumbag who also murdered an elephant just to show how AC electricity was better than DC or whatever. Fuck Edison and learn about Tessa y'all. This was a lost film that I have been lucky to have watched for about a decade now.
Fifth I watched a clever early silent film that was brand new to me. From Russia (with love?), premiering in 1915, The Portrait, directed by Wladyslaw Starewicz. This was really well shot, clean compared to how so many other films from the era have aged due to degradation, and the acting was better than most films I have seen from 1896-1915. Check it out folks.
Back to bar tending and cleaning because I am at the bar. Cheers!
