So a brand new remake of the Munsters is in the works, and it sounds twisted. Hopefully it doesn't blow. So credit ThatFigures.com for the following article: NBC is developing a new show based on the 1960s classic comedy, The Munsters. The original Munsters followed the misadventures of a kooky family of misfit monsters, created to cash-in on the creature feature craze of the 60s but - unlike their previous on-screen incarnations who'd rampage through the countryside being chased by pitchfork-wielding villagers - the Munsters were simply a suburban family attempting to muddle their way through modern life. Although the show only ran for two seasons, The Munsters was - and remains to this day - an incredibly popular show, spawning two movies featuring (most of) the original cast, a number of new spin-off movies and a modernisation in the form of The Munsters Today. The Munsters also had their own model kits, comic book, toys and more. Now NBC has ordered a pilot for a new series, headed-up by Pushing Daisies' Brian Fuller. According to Deadline, Fuller's vision for the show is to create ''an imaginative reinvention of The Munsters as a visually spectacular one-hour drama,'' which the network sees ''as a potential summer or event series.'' And credit BloodyDisgusting.com for the following "fleshing" out of the bits of other early details: The pilot episode, which is to be directed by Bryan Singer - who also was behind the camera for the "House" pilot, Superman Returns and X-Men - will focus on 10-year-old Eddie Munster who is unaware that he's a werewolf, and that his family is composed of terrifying creatures. The madness begins when a baby bear attacks a scouting trip, only it turns out that this "bear" is actually Eddie transformed into a werewolf. Eddie is unaware of his metamorphosis and it forces the family to move in order to protect the family secret. The coming of age story gets weirder as he fights against his family when he learns of a shocker: they're a family of flesh-eaters! A few other random character notes: Lily Munster has an eating disorder and eats suicide victims. Grandpa Munster is a 600-year-old shapeshifter, and Marilyn Munster was adopted when her mother tried to eat her as a baby.

Ok, I'll give it a shot. It will be hard to not hate it simply because it's not the original though. Really they should give it a different name that kind of implies spin off but wont invite comparisons. The Munsters Today was horrible.

You know you got something.
It sounds like more of a (one hour) drama than a comedy by the description. I think I have a good, more original name that still let's old timers like me know that it is a show about the Munster Family.
1313 Mockingbird Lane. It even sounds like a modern era teevee show.

The Munsters Today reminds me of that Lyle Alzado rasslin sitcom from the same period. I think they were both on WTBS before WCW Saturday night for a season. I'm probably remembering wrong. Help me out here Wulfie and set me straight if you remember that better.
And that reminds me of that turd sandwich second attempt at doing a "Leave It To Beaver" show.
The rasslin sitcom was the best of the three. But I love me some classic Munsters.

Thank you. Thirteen just seems right. I saw that the show was a CTV joint venture. You Canadians are alright in my book.
I loved this show for the whole season it was on.
And I didn't hate The Munsters today, but yeah... it blew.
And the following sucked.
On a political aside, I once had the pleasure of voting for Al Lewis when he was running for the Senate in New York. I think he was running against Senator Alfonzo "Fonzie" D'Amato and Representative Charles Schumer. Grandpa framed the vote as a choice between him and "Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum". Got my vote.
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is an American classic. Cheers!

I almost nailed the title for this new series. All the following is from Dreadcentral.com, so credit them and Uncle Creepy.
The Munsters Get a Title Change on Mockingbird LaneUncle Creepy's picture By Uncle Creepy February 2nd, 2012 You know, combined with the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark article I wrote a short while ago, for whatever reason this latest nugget of news makes me borderline homicidal. I'm not even sure why. Read on for details. According to TVLine, as if to further drive home the point that its “imaginative reinvention” of "The Munsters" will bear little resemblance to the classic 1960s version, NBC is giving the reboot a new moniker. "Pushing Daisies" creator Bryan Fuller and X-Men auteur Bryan Singer have changed the title from "The Munsters" to "Mockingbird Lane". The new handle is, of course, a nod to the family’s iconic Victorian abode, which is situated at 1313 Mockingbird Lane, and the project is currently in the casting stage. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to beat a brick wall with my fists. Be back soon.

Here is two updates, boring actually, from The Munsters remake in progress. Credit Dread Central:
According to TVLine, Beth Grant ("Pushing Daisies," "Wonderfalls") will play the part of Maryanne, a 40-something wheelchair-bound woman who’s very suspicious of her creepy new neighbors.
and...
More casting news has come in for NBC's "Mockingbird Lane", this time involving Broadway and TV star Cheyenne Jackson, who's signed on for a guest role as Eddie Munster's Scout Master Steve, a charming, cheerful widower with no children of his own who becomes smitten with Lily.
In addition to acting in such projects as "30 Rock" and "Glee", Jackson just released his first single, “Drive", and booked a part in Steven Soderbergh’s Liberace biopic for HBO Behind the Candelabra as Jerry O’Rourke, Liberace’s former lover and right-hand man on stage; and he currently appears in the feature Lola Versus.
I am clueless who these famous people are.

Credit Yahoo News.
First Look: NBC's 'Munsters' Reboot 'Mockingbird Lane' These aren’t your daddy’s “Munsters.” We told you a few months back that NBC was reviving the classic 1960s sitcom about a family of horror-movie monsters and turning it into a dark drama called “Mockingbird Lane.” But in the wake of creative differences between the network and creator Bryan Fuller, NBC has decided to scrap the series and turn the $10 million pilot into a stand-alone Halloween special, airing October 26 at 8 PM.
Here’s your first look at the “Mockingbird Lane” cast in character: Jerry O’Connell (“Sliders”) as dad Herman; Portia de Rossi (“Arrested Development”) as mom Lily; Eddie Izzard (“The Riches”) as vampire Grandpa; Mason Cook (“Spy Kids in 4D”) as werewolf son Eddie; and British newcomer Charity Wakefield as “plain” cousin Marilyn. And as you can see, they look a lot different than the original “Munsters” (inset): much more naturalistic, without a hint of the old-school movie-monster makeup. Honestly, we wouldn’t even know O’Connell was playing Herman if you hadn’t told us. (Though he does have a pretty nasty neck scar, as you'll see in the following photos.) And an Eddie Munster without a widow’s peak? Blasphemy!
Couldn't uplink photos from this site so enjoy (?) this preview.

I believe it was cancelled before they ever aired it. But they did air it as a Halloween special. I personally have mixed reviews. I loved the opening camping scenes. I didn't really have a problem with the kid who played Eddie but why not give him a widows peak? I believe it costs too much for television shows to do good CGI and if you can't do good CGI then you shouldn't do it at all which was a pet peeve of mine with this show. Some of the CGI was completely unnecessary here too. Also, Herman and Lilian weren't cast right for my taste. Beyond the CGI the show looked great. I loved the Pushing Daisys, Tim Burton feel of it. Besides Herman Munster, I feel they paid descent homage to the original show while still making things fresh. Overall I don't think I would have watched it for very long if it had aired it as a series but I did enjoy the novelty of the one episode which you can watch in it's entirety here. www.nbc.com/mockingbird-lane/video/mockingbird-lane/n29651/ You just have to sit through the minute long commercial before it begins.
