Another good review. I like the setting.
This might seem a little bit stubborn of me, but I never want to see the 2011 The Thing. John Carpenter's The Thing is one of my all-time favorite horror movies and this new one just seems like a lesser version of it. And having a chick in the movie seems like "equal-opportunist" Hollywood.

I'll watch it, but it will be hard to top the 82 film.

Nice review and I'm glad that it isn't just downright horrible. I remember thinking the 82 film would be cheesy as hell because of that spaceship ,but then I was in for quite a surprise.

The 82 film is my favorite too, I have a peeve about how they are calling it the first one though since it was a remake it's self.

I have been debating watching this one. Guess I'm going to talke myself out on a date tomorrow to the old movie theater for an early and hopefully lightly attended viewing.
John Carpenter's movie was perfect. I still get mad at the dog everytime I see him. For me to root against a dog, well that's just excellent movie magic!

Cool video Nasty Neal! Please keep doing more of them. Also, please continue to point out when you are about to do spoilers. I skipped ahead to your final thoughts of the film when you said you were gonna spoil some stuff around the 7:30 mark. Much appreciated. I plan to check this movie out soon and I will go back and watch the entire review and post my thoughts on the board.

Perhaps a spoiler warning bit coming up on the screen, like in the top right. It could disappear, once the spoilers are over. You could say 'if you don't want to hear spoilers, turn down your volume until the spoiler icon disappears.' And give them like a few seconds to turn of the volume. Maybe for 3 seconds.

Listen to Madman, his heart was right on why this movie would be blah. It's fine if you have never seen Carpenter's version, if you have, you start noticing that this sequel is just going through the motions of emulating the eighties classic.
If you skip this movie, somehow, someway, just watch the credits. The credits made this salty old fan applause.

Man this movie must have bombed pretty bad as all the local theaters in my area stopped showing it after just 2 weeks. I guess I will have to rent it when it come out on DVD.
