Watched Tales From the Dead a Horror anthology all of the stories were good and I loved the twist at the end that all horror anthologies have.

It was my second viewing of "D". I loved it but anime has come a long way since 1985. I need to see the newer movie. And yeah, it was awesome until its animation became somewhat or very dated. But I don't mind.
Yakuza movie from the early sixties, very "noirish"- Pale Flower.

Ah man you saw Pale Flower I love that movie it's like one of the only Yakuza movies from the sixties I've seen that isn't cheesy or hokey.
Yeah I think part of the difference is animation tends to get bigger budgets now than then I think you can see the second D movie on youtube.

I need to watch Pale Flower again. I watched it at a friend's house so the focus wasn't what the movie deserved. I pretty muched watched it, but miussed reading all the subtitles due to conversation. I'll probably watch it again and not count the second viewing.
Just finished Grave of the Fireflies. My third viewing since its release in 1995.
This movie always makes me sad. It is hauntingly beautiful, but so sad. Anybody who steals food from a starving child..... Well, I'll leave the rest of that statement alone, right there.
It is the story of two orphans at the end of the war. Anime. It had to be, the movie would have been impossible to make with child actors, and the budget would have been prohibative. That said, every second is visual perfection.
A must watch.
Dedicated to Kristie and her grandmother who was a survivor of atomic warfare.

The Baby Cart Assassin, The Baby Cart Killer. The Lone Wolf and Cub. Itto Ookami. Sword and Son for Hire. The former Kogi Kaishukanin. Ogami Itto and Ogami Daigoro. A ronin and his son seeking vengeance.
His school, the Suiryo. His school's most infamous sword techniques: The Suiryo Wave Slicing Stroke and the Suiryo Horse Slicing Stroke. His sword a dotanuko, strong enough to slice that aforementioned horse.
My all-time favorite epic story is Lone Wolf and Cub, a manga that began in 1970 and ran 28 issues, each over 300 pages long, for a total of over 8,700 pages in all.
Six movies were produced starting in 1972 as well as a teevee series.
The first movie is Lone Wolf and Cub: Sword of Vengeance.
The Shogun's power lies in three branches.
The Kurokowa... The Grass... The Garden Wanderers... The Shogun's spies... His ninjas.
The Yagyu clan and it's shadow, the Uru-Yagyu... His assassins.
The Kogi Kaishakunin... The Shogun's "Second"... The Ogami clan, Ogami Itto specifically, is the Shogun's Official Executioner.
The Yagyu under Yagyu Retsudo frame Itto with conspiracy against the Shogun. Itto must commit suicide, sepuku.
Itto and his infant son, Daigoro, instead venture forth on the White Path of Hell. The path between water and fire.
Father and son journey as demons, and as assassin and son for hire, down the road of vengeance and Meifumado, the Buddhist Hell of Demons and Damnation.

Just watched Kurosawa's Throne of Blood. My second watching. A great movie.
Between this movie and Rashomon, many horror-like situations occur. Spirits, ghosts, witches, a medium channeling a dead man, ghastly murders, and one execution by hundreds of arrows.
I love this movie but this copy was terrible. I got in on e-bay from Korea. The English subtitles are awful. Some examples first what should have been followed with what some goof came up with.
become, come her highness, her honor forest, bush Cobweb Forest, spider bush coward, bastard riddles, bull shit (two words) I, we blood stains, blood print witch, monster
I read the wikipedia entry while watching the movie to refresh me on what I've previously read on a prior viewing.
And I have another dvd from Korea that is more screwed up. Bastiches!
