I watched Burnt Offerings (1976) which was a pretty good psychological movie about this house. It does a good job of keeping you guessing what's going on. You can stream this on netflix.

Just watched Vampyr which is a dreadfully dull and boring movie. That being said the camera angles are good as well as the death of the old men by flour. Also streamable off of Netflix.

Just watched Hour of the Wolf which was a great psychological horror movie and has some beautiful cinemotography. I reccomend it for any psychological horror fan.
I did a little research on Vampyr and apparently it was the directors first talkie and many directors had trouble transitioning from silent to talkies which might explain why it was so quiet and boring.

Just watched The Legend of Hell House (1973) and it was a very good film I miss the type of British films you used to get from the 60s and 70s. The reveal at the end is very clever and it's nice when a twist actually makes sense.

The Howling Reborn. Just such a lame movie. One of those redbox movies you tricked into watching based off the name and cover. It was like watching a rejected Lifetime horror show. Just awful.

Finally watched Witchfinder General (1968) which was a great movie. Price is a great job as the despicable manipulator. This and Black Death make me wonder why more realistic horror films aren't done in England considering their rather violent history.

LOB-19.25
Just finished watching Return of the Dead. What a fun and at times creepy movie. Best line? "Send... more... cops".
And holy shit! JAS brought it with a vengeance! I am sweating you big time, but Sunday is coming.....
And now is time for Wulf to go to a wedding (a cool one) and add three or four to his number.
And Maple and KR well, I have the feeling that next year they really are gonna flex their horror biceps.
Red Stripe tonight. Cheers Critters of the Night!

Just watched peeping Tom and my god it's so realistic it's almost disturbing. This must have been rediculously scary and creepy when it was originally released.

Watched From a Whisper to a Scream which was a horror anthology with Vincent Price. The first 2 stories were good especially the second and the last two weren't.

Mean, my God, Gene!!! That was an awesome movie that I will be rewatching. A silent film that is not dull at the least (Nosferatu's actors didn't do it for me with the exception of Max Shreck). John Barrymore.... wow. He stole the movie.
I loved when randomly in daylight, Hyde trounces and steps on the back of a cute little poor kid riding a broomstick in the middle of the street. SPOILERSPOILERSPOILER When Hyde attacks his fiance's father with a cane, well holy sheep shit. And Hyde is the hero in my book at the end, he kills Jekyll, but he kills himself out of atonement and to protect Jekyll's love, Millicent. Good stuff, I HIGH-ly reccomend. SPOILERSPOILERSPOILER ENDS.
This might be an interwebs foul, so if it is tell me, and I won't do it again, and if need be I'll delete it, but this movie is in the public domain. It belongs to you and me.
Here is the whole movie in magnificent black and white! And glorious silence.

Now JAS, I can feel his breath on my neck. The man is an animal! I'm not calling a winner yet, but I am going to give JAS an RVD-like moniker. JakeAwesomeSnake, the King of October! This pre-work Red Stripe is dedicated to the King of October, Cheers!

LOB-22.25 Freaks is always great and the last ten minutes are legendary! Frankestein (March 18, 1910) was directed by J. Searle Dawley and that makes (in my book) 101 years of horror movies. The genre is 101 proof! Here's the wiki link. A good read. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edison_FrankensteinThat's a thirteen minute or so quick point for you all, cough, Maple. Time to get ready for work.

So short films count?

If it was considered a movie in its day, yeah let's count it, but that's why I posted Frankestein as a quick cheat for everyone.
Let's say, besides Edison's Frankestein and The Cabinet of Caligari (I'm watching it tomorrow and I think it runs for 55 minutes?), a rule of one hour minimum in length? That's why I counted that Lon Chaney, Jr. fiasco as a "0.25".
