So I am watching V for Vendetta right now. The scene at the beginning where V saves Evie after she maces the cop just passed and got me thinking. V looks down at the unconcious Evie, and the audience gathers that he is thinking that he has to save her now. Is that acting through a mask, or is the audience deciding what to deduce from the character's previous actions? Same goes for Kane Hodder acting behind a hockey mask. Is it his mannerisms, his acting, that we feel that we can read Jason when he stares at a victim, or say when Michael Myers cocks his head from one side to the other looking over his latest handiwork? Are they acting through the mask? Is this acting, is the credit for the message getting 'got' due to the acting and direction, the work of the actor and his craft, or do we as the audience just naturally know what the actor and director want us to think or get out of a scene as it is progressing and do those making films take advantage of this possibly intrinsic human deduction? Or a little from column 'A' and a little from column 'B'? Attachments:

I think it's mannerisms or I've also heard it called body acting. While I haven't really seen it in horror movies I've noticed alot of the older European actors are very good without any dialogue and being able to see there face you could tell there mood by the way they walked kind of like they had these precise deliberate movements.

Okay, but what about in absence of body acting. When Kane Hodder just stands there staring as Jason, not moving, and we "know" what he is thinking. Is that acting or us the audience taking a bit of bait and doing the finishing of the job of the actor and director, and not taking anything away from either.
Drinking Laughing Whiskey Spirits. Right now Johnny Walker Black. Nightcap will be Bulleit Rye American Whiskey. Cheers heathens!
