Spoilers Below:
First I watched Rob Zombie's 2009 animated horror comedy The Haunted World of El Superbeasto starring Tom Papa and four WYH guests: Sheri Moon Zombie, Danny Trejo, Sid Haig, and Bill Mosely. It's about the misadventures of the retired titular luchadore and his sister. I'd been meaning to watch this one for awhile ,but for one reason or another never got around to it. I'm so glad that I did because this was a great movie. The soundtrack was great, animation was great, it was hilarious, and the voice acting was great. There was just so much in this movie from the huge amount of horror references to the parody soundtrack. It was just so over the top and random. Especially loved the Beatlesesque song during the zombie biker Nazi showdown.
Second I watched Padraig Reynolds' 2011 horror movie Rites of Spring starring WYH guest Anessa Ramsay. I've been meaning to watch this movie ever since I first saw the cover and was intrigued and then while making the list of WYH guests I noticed one had a role in it. It's about two seemingly different plots that slowly become more intersected and finally meet. One of the character's is not only motivated out of being a dad ,but is also an important background character and one of the reason's that half of the plot is happening. The acting was good, the cinematography was great, the gore was great, the soundtrack was great, and the antagonist looked great. I liked that one of the antagonist's at the beginning had a well thought out plan, which covered every detail. Overall a really good movie.
After that I watched Adrian Grunberg's 2012 movie starring, produced, and written by Mel Gibson. It's about the aforementioned Gringo ending up in a Mexican prison with forces conspiring against him to take him out and get his ill gotten money. On a sidenote I was surprised to see Dean Norris (Hank from Breaking Bad) and Bob Gunton (the warden from The Shawshank Redemption ) ins small roles as well. Dads play an offscreen, but important role for two of the protagonists because they both serve as the reason for why the protagonists are driven to do what they do. The acting was great, the Latin soundtrack was great, the cinematography was great, the gore was great, and the acts of violence were great. Additionally , it also happened to be pretty funny. I'd been on the fence about watching this movie, on the one hand I thought it sounded good and had heard some good things about it, but on the other hand I' also heard bad things about it and thought it might just be a dumb action movie. I just decided to finally watch it and was pleasantly surprised to find that not only did it fit into the contest rules ,but it was also a great movie.
Finally I watched Nathan Morlando's 2011 Canadian film Citizen Gangster starring Scott Speedman and Brian Cox. It's based on the true story of Canadian gangster Edwin Boyd. The acting, rock soundtrack, cinematography, gore, and acts of violence were all great. The protagonist is motivated to rob because he has to provide for family as a dad and his dad (played by Brian Cox) is also a main character. Great movie.
Apologies for taking so long to get started.

Sorry I sucked this month. I've had insomnia over and over again and been doing a lot of reading of current events and such. Plus I've had some odd working hours that have stretched to five in the morning, but still, I am lame.
Watched three movies in the last few days.
First I watched Friday the 13th Part 3. This is my favorite Jason movie and the introduction of the hockey mask.
Second I watched The Creature from the Black Lagoon.
Third I watched a documentary, Herschell Gordon Lewis The Godfather of Gore. I recommend this film. The origin of gore in American horror. Good and interesting stuff.
Once again, sorry Jake. I'll do better in July. So what is the theme my good man?

It's alright LOB, I was busy this month too catching up on Dexter and Breaking Bad, power playing the cinematic video game The Last of Us, taking care of my aunt's old dog, and various other things.
I'm awarding you control of June's theme, although I was thinking something along the lines of the last July competition. I really enjoyed that one ,but outside circumstances handicapped me for about a week during that one. Whatever you decide , bring it on!
