Ten years after the human victory over the world wide Zombie epidemic, referred to as World War Z, Max Brooks scours the world collecting the stories and experiences of those who have survived the conflict that almost eradicated humanity. I read on IMDB that they are making the book into a movie, and "After a bidding war between Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio's production companies (Plan B and Appian Way respectively) for the film rights to Max Brooks' unreleased book, Paramount came out the winner and Plan B will be producing the movie". After the first part of the audio book, where they had some corny accents for people in China, Israel etc I really got into it. The audio book has a full cast like Henry Rollins, John Turturro, Rob Reiner, Carl Reiner, Alan Alda etc. I know there are tons of zombie films out there, but I'd really like to see this made into a movie. It would have to be really long to include everything. It would make a cool mini series.

I love the book and the screenplay is being written by a great comic book guy, but I'm worried about the film version of this. The book is a series of oral stories. A big part of its charm is the narration, and films aren't about narration. If it's just a series of, "I remember the time..." and fading out to anecdotal scenes, it could suck really badly. There's enough creative material in the book that they could make a very entertaining and deep movie if they do it correctly, but it seems very easy to make this seem like just another zombie/apocalypse flick.
