I'm of the opinion that there is a connection between the horror and sci-fi genres - IMHO, Invasion of the Body Snatchers could be viewed as a horror flick, or a SF one, and the same could be said of Alien -, so i'd like to know some of the board's favorite Science-Fiction movies - and, possibly, why. I myself rank Blade Runner as my fav SF flick, for the philosophical ambiguity of human existence that transpires into the beautifully framed celluloid, in a masterpiece of design, mood and lighting.
Thanks.

I totally agree. Alien and The Thing are also good examples. They are both horror movies that happen to be about aliens.

Even though some SF movies don't have a horror "edge" to them, it could be argued that, basically, from Dracula to Frankenstein, to Night of the Living Dead and the whole zombie sub-genre, all horror flicks have an SF "edge", since we enter the realm of scientific possibilities, or impossibilities - from (re)creating life to a possible aftermath of it. I am Legend is another recent example of this ambiguity, and i wonder if we could hear some opinions on this subject from our hosts (and callers...) in an - always eagerly awaited - upcoming show.
