Good call on Dark City Director's Cut. One of my favorite movies, was really happy to see it get a special 2 disc DVD set. I always felt it was much better than the Matrix.

Dark City is a fantastic movie, surely Alex Proyas' best work - I Robot wasn't as bad as some have said, though. The DC does restore Proyas' vision for the movie, with no initial voice-over, but i'm a big fan of both versions - the set-design and cinematography are just mesmerizing. Surely (and sadly...) one of the most underrated flicks out there, especially when compared to the very good, but much overhyped, The Matrix - like i write elsewhere, basically a "remake" of Fassbinder's Welt am Draht. The fanedited version of Dark City, renamed Darkest City, is also a great flick, even tighter and edgier, and preempted the director's cut, by removing the initial voice-over.
