Frank Darabont, respected director of films such as The Mist and The Shawshank Redemption, will bring his latest creation to the cable channel AMC, according to THR. this will be the first time that a TV series will be based on a zombie apocalypse scenario. Based on the 2003 Image Comics by Robert Kirkman, the show will follow the drama of a police officer named Rick Grimes as he leads a group of survivors for months, even years, in a world overrun by the undead. Considering the current success HBO is enjoying with its vampire series True Blood, I think we’re overdue for a good, weekly zombie serial. The project should be of note to fans, not only because Darabont is spear-heading, but because the series is likely to have the same polished sheen that has put AMC on the map for its quality original programming with serials like Mad Men. Between this and True Blood, looks like I’m gonna have to get cable again.

Hopefully will be awesome, so long as they stick to the comic story line and don't do something lame like Trueblood and have communities of Zombies living in harmony with humans. Monsters should be monstrous.
