I'm a huge lovecraft fan and usually pretty disappointed with the film versions of his short stories, the reanimator anyone? But I really enjoyed this version of Pickman's Model from Lurker Films, appropriately creepy with good acting and locations. There are two other versions on the disc, I didn't watch the Italian one but the American offering was pretty bad. I highly recommend it if you are a fan of Lovecraft.

There has been a lot of really good work done by the indie crowd with his stories. Not to mention some of the stuff being done by newer writers of the genre. Lock and Key is a great comic series being made into a promising looking cable series. It does seem like the best stuff is being done by foreign film makers. I'm never seen the newsreel but I've read a lot of his letters, he was very prolific with correspondence sometimes writing a dozen letters in a day that could reach 75 pages. He had a cramped writing style too so I'm not sure I would want to get letters like that too often from him.

yes ; it would have been both an honour and a choir to correspond with h.p, . if in present times the lovecraft circle would be convening somewhere on the web

I have no doubt he would have fully embraced the internet too. He was a proponent of collaboration, as I'm sure you know, they all borrowed from each other frequently. Even Conan has elements taken from the mythos since Lovecraft and Edgar Burrows were close friends.

it happens ; it's so hard to keep track of who was and who wasn't in the circle and exactly what they did. not that he was in the circle but i've heard it said that lovecraft had links to houdinni. i heard l they hung out and lovecraft ghostwrote his book . i found some evidence of that online
