Last month was great. We're doing it again. Bring the pain.
The scoring: One point for every non-horror foreign film, or dual American/foreign film watched.
Two points for horror films from foreign countries, billed from the U.S. and another country, or made for a foreign market (i.e., Dracula in Spanish).
Two (2) points for any Star Wars movie watched on May the Fourth.
Three points for any Mexican horror film, or Mexican-American themed horror movie watched on May Fifth. From that goofy movie with Rey Sr. to anything with Mil Mascaras or El Santo to Robot vs. Aztec Mummy to Borderland to Juarez, Mexico. All three pointers.
You lose four points if you watch The Alamo on Cinco de Mayo, though.
And a movie by a fellow Texan starring a fellow Texan, May. Worth three points during this month.
The rules. Honor system at work. Competition ends at midnight Pacific time on the last day of the month. Movies watched during the April competition cannot be recounted if re-watched.
May the Fourth be with us..... Jeez, I suck. Cheers!

I watched The Mercenary a Spaghetti Western by Sergio Corbucci who also directed Navajo Joe and Django with Franco Nero of Djano fame starring a a Polish mercenary paid to help the revolution in Mexico. Overall it was a pretty entertaining movie with some of the better dubbing I've seen in the sphagetti western genre.

My favorite sci-fi movie and pure art. 2001, A Space Odyssey. Stanley Kubrick could have made a two hour film catching a cat taking a dump and licking his balls, and I would call it genius. I'm calling the man my favorite director.
The Man.
Oops.
I love details, such as a green helmet of one astronaut being worn by an astronaut in orange, and one robotic arm touching the body of the space pod, one arm slightly extended. This makes the movie feel more authentic.
I could see Kubrick's style taking me back to The Shining. Two things that brought me back to the Shining: A scene near the end with Dave Bowman standing staring away in his astronaut gear, and HAL's voice near the beginning of the third of the movie sounded like the caretaker in The Shining, Delbert Grady.
Anyway, I fear Skynet and I fear HAL. And I love the prolonged "murder" scene of HAL. Drinking a Real Ale Full Moon Pale Rye after two bottles of their thirteenth Anniversary Ale (which is a clone of a now extinct beer from the former Bitter End (RIP my favorite burned down bar) Happy Jack Imperial Stout.

Oops, I meant 15th Anniversary Ale, a righteous American interpretation of a British Russian Imperial Stout.
And thank you JAS for the compilations. Cheers!

You're welcome LOB.
Anyway, I watched Austrain horror film funny games for the first time. All of the acting was great especially the two bad guys. The part with the remote though kind of sucked I'd of preffred it if it wasn't included. That being said the family is kind of dumb there was three of them and they all could've grabbed a golf club and taken out the one guy with a golf club.

Watched Cowboy Bebop: The Movie after years of wanting to watch it. I thought it was great just like the show and it's and interquel (if that's even a word). On a side note I'm so glad the live action movie with Kianu Reeves seems to have been cancelled.

Edit: It's Japanese by the way.

I detest Kianu Reeves. I liked both of those movies, but I preferred the American version of Funny Games. I saw Cowboy on the silver screen. I was only barely familiar with the teevee series, but I liked it, and the few episodes I watched. I loved the intro to the show.
I'm torn counting this as two points. There were references to The Fly, King Kong, werewolf films, "Lunar Power" and crazed science types, an evil hunter with murder in his heart, and sexual Innuendo. And a fearful populace. Yeah, I'm counting it.
Wallace and Gromit, The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

Watched Star Wars, not Episode IV, not A New Hope, but Star Wars. And Han shot first. Anyone who disagrees about this can box my scrawny short ass. I hate that every time I watch this movie, I realize that this and Empire are my two favorite movies.
I would rather be a nerf-herder dreaming upon binary suns than..... Whatever. If George Lucas did any drugs in the 1980s, I want to know what they are so I can steer clear of 'em.
And this movie is why I believe you can do anything with practical effects. They still hold up for me. But not Mr. Lucas.
If one scene always will give me goosebumps, it is the scene with the farmboy imagining a bigger and more significant future beyond his twin stars. I'm a cynical, jaded, and sarcastic fuck. I should like Han more, but the dreamer will always be a part of me, whether as a three year old in a movie theater in 1977, a fourth grader recording the first ever teevee broadcast of Star Wars on Showtime in 1984 (Beta-Max, baby!), or an hour and a half ago at the soon to be ripe ancient age of 38. For that, Cheers! Mr. Lucas, too bad my glass is now empty.

I watched How Much Do You Love me a French comedy about a man with a bad heart condition who wins the lottery and hires a prostitute to act as his wife until he runs out of money. There were some funny parts of this film and some really serious parts ,but overall it ended up being nonsensical. Gerard Depardieu plays her pimp and does a great job as a realistic menacing figure ,but can also be comedic. I've seen him one other time in Inspector Bellamy and while I also enjoyed that movie I can't wait to see him in a really good movie because apparently he's considered a great French actor. JAS-5

I watched Pierrepoint a British film about the titular character a real life executioner in England renowned and proud of his quick painless effiency. This film is incredibly well done and interesting while Pierrepoint doesn't really enjoy executing people at the same time he doesn't dislike it either.

Watched Love, Honor, and Obey a British comedy making fun of gangster movies starring Jude Law ,but apparently most of the cast is pretty famous in England. It's so intentionally over the top that certain parts were actually pretty funny.

How the British Riots last year started.
This is one of my favorite horror movies, and I was lucky enough to watch it on the glorious screen of the Paramount Theater. A classic at a classic.
An American Werewolf in London.
