I like that humor LS!
Just watched Trapped Ashes. Going to agree with Jake on this one. Better than I thought, but "don't trust anything that bleeds once a month" was the theme to me.
I really enjoyed "Stanley's Girlfriend" as one of my favorite directors is viewed with a twist. Napoleon as an epic film would have been great! Off to work....

Yeah Kubrick doing Napolean would've been awesome.

Yessiree, it's something I was unaware about, the comparisons to Napoleon. The Blu-ray commentary track on A Clockwork Orange taught me a lot. JAS, you will dig it, listen to it sometime, and yeah, the Master would have blown our minds with that one. If you haven't seen it, check out Spartacus, or at the least, the armies clashing scenes. In-fucking-credible. And beautiful.
We are selling a great local craft beer as a "Fire Sale" after buying fifty cases. Six packs are selling for $4.99 or $20.00 a case for twenty-four beers. So a delicious and inexpensive Real Ale Phoenix Double ESB Cheers! to you all. Yum.

Just watched Campfire Tales from 1991. To borrow from elsewhere, a true shlockfest. Exploitation off the chain (as Taz would say), a miniscule budget, and Gunnar Hansen telling stories by campfire. God bless that Icelander/Texan/Man of Maine. This is why I like horror. I can't think of another genre made by people with more love for their craft and sometimes shoe-string budgets that can get a good to classic end result.
Oh yeah, I dig this film.
Still drinking Phoenix, and like that mighty bird of fire, I will rise up from my ashes and someday..... set the rules for July, American Movie Month. Bwah, ha, ha , HAA!!! Cheers!

Skipped episode five. I'm vampired-out.
Just watched the sixth episode of the first season of Kolchak, The Night Stalker. "The Werewolf".
Imagine a man who doesn't know that he is a recent victim of lycanthropy on a cruise ship on the nights surrounding the full moon. Do yourselves a favor and watch this series. Very good and fun stuff. A final Phoenix Cheers! of the night to my older brother for turning me on to this series when I was about six years old.

Just watched Creepshow 2. Never had wanted to watch it before....
It was okay, better than meh. I did like The Raft, the end made me jump just a bit. That never happens, but I was expecting it to reach for the survivor.
I think all the stories should have been shaved of at least five minutes, and one more short should have been added. Though I enjoyed Tom Savini in this, his character was goofy-creepy, not scary. The animation reminded me of that eighties arcade game Dragon Quest or whatever it was. The D&Ders arcade game.

Watched two great episodes of Masters of Horror, Pick Me Up (my first watch) and Homecoming which I have seen a few times.
Homecoming is the most anti-modern day GOP/Neo-Con, anti-Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld, anti-political teevee talking heads class, anti-fraud in Presidential elections (cough- Florida and Ohio- cough, cough) horror flic out there. Very much against the War in Iraq, and very, very, very pro-soldier and pro-veteran. And it is a zombie tale, but this time you root for the undead and hate the Ann Coulter/GOP Skank character.
Both short movies were very enjoyable watches.

Pro-Life, another excellent Masters of Horror episode by John Carpenter. The young actress was very impressive. Her real life favorite movie was Rosemary's Baby. This role was perfect for her. This episode touches on the more sensitive issues, political and religious, that have torn Americans apart for the last few decades. I recommend.
And like John Carpenter said, this episode is not pro-choice or pro-life. It is pro-horror. And it is a bloody homerun.

JAS Megapost
First I watched Deadtime Stories Volume 1. which was hosted by George Romero and man were these three tales bad. The second one had a killer mermaid and still managed to be boring, the first story was really hoky, and the third was made by Tom Savini which while the best still had pretty bad acting except for the doctor who did a good job and of course the gore was good.
Then I watched Mario Bava's Black Sabbath, man there were all thes crazy colors and when Karloff was narrating it looked really cool with this crisscrossing blue and yellow. The second story was the best and the third had some good cinematography ,but overall wasn't that good.
After that I watched Dr. Terror's House of Horrors and has freaking Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, and Donald Sutherland. The first story dragged ,but I loved the twist at the end. The second story was ok, the third story had this awesome vodoo Jazz song, the forth stars Lee and was really good, the fifth was also good and had a really dark vampire twist. The framing device is that they're all on a train and to pass the time Peter Cushing reads their future's on tarot cards.
Then I watched Body Bags which was a co production between John Carpenter and Tobe Hooper with the first two tales being done by Carpenter and the final one by Hooper which starred Mark Hamill. This was a rediscovering of my childhood as apparently I'd seen the first two stories when I was younger on the Sci Fi channel. The first one about a first night at a gas station wasn't as good as I remember ,but the picture drawn in the bathroom was still pretty creepy. The second story was hilarious and was about a balding man getting new hair which turns out to be aliens, despite the humor the ending is really dark. The third one is about a baseball player who after losing his eye gets a transplant and starts to go crazy. The framing device is Carpenter telling all the intentionally bad jokes with a freaking Empire/Umpire pun.
Then I watched Mania which was pretty entertaining. The first tale has to do with a man who gets set up for murder man at the end you realize just how fucked he is, the second story has to do with a woman who is being watched and is forced to give up her jewels so that her daughter isn't killed, the third one is about people who get this awesome Rhottwheiler after this string of murders ,but the husband is scared of dogs, he trys poisining it and when it gets sick feels bad and gives it to the vet, with the twist being it hadn't ate the food ,but instead had been choking on a burglars fingers, the fourth one concerns a man who keeps his head down ,but against his better judgement saves someone in a subway which leads to more trouble.
Then I watched Dead of Night a British anthology from the 40's about an architect who goes to a house in the country and finds that he's dreamed of them all before and they all proceed to tell him various supernatural stories and eventually the architect goes mad and kills them all. Overall it wasn't good ,but they did a good job at the end showing his descent into total madness and his line about wanting to hurt someone who meant nothing ,but good for him was good.
I then watched Tales From the Hood which has three gangsters go to a mortuary to get drugs while the mortician tells them tales of the dead bodys. The first story wasn't that good and dealt with dirty racist cops and there comeuppance, the second story is about a boy who's getting attacked by a monster and I really liked this one ,but the fight scenes were really badly shot which harmed it, the third has evil vodoo puppets and concerns a racist politician, the fourth story was actually really good and moving ,but since I watched in a dark room the scene with all the flashing lights went on so long that it hurt my eyes. The reveal is that the Mortician is actually Satan and that they're already dead which was laughably bad.
The I watched Three Extremes for the first time which was a collaberation between three different Asian countries. The first story Dumplings is about an aging woman who wants to regain her youth and so finds special dumplings to do so, the director Fruit Chan does a good job of trying to gross you out ,but unfortunately I knew the twist going in, the second tale Cut which was my favorite has an extra break into a directors house and test him and is really good and was done by Park Can-wook, the third directed by Takashi Miike was my least favorite and was about two twin ballerinas.
Then I watched Three Extremes 2 which actually preceded Three Extremes ,but was rereleased under this title after the popularity of Three Extremes the first story was good, the second one sucked and the third one was pretty good.

JAS, Holy Shit man!
Watched a great episode of Kolchak the Night Stalker. Primal Scream.
Cells, possibly over a million years old from the Arctic, thaw and begin to reproduce which leads to proto-humans killing randomly in 1970s Chicago. These episodes are so much fun. I think I saw this episode as a tyke with my brother. The underground Chicago tunnel scenes were a familiar memory.

Possible Anti-Semitism in Crown Heights in a community of elder, seasoned, Jews. A mythological Hindu monster that prey's on people's faith in loved ones. And Carl Kolchac, wry reporter for I.N.S.
This series delves into populism and controversial issues or environments with every episode. And with good-nature and humor. The end of this episode made me smile. Kolchak for Pres, 2012!
Drank a Real Ale Coffee Porter to wake myself up.... Cheers! LOB-34

Watched Trick r' Treat which is a movie I'd been meaning to get to for awhile. I remember seeing the trailer for this movie with my cousin and we both thought that it looked like a horrror movie with everything in it. It's different than other horror anthologies because it's all the different tales are going on at the same time and you see it all play out in various chronological order. The reveal with the girls managed to surprise me twice.
